This is a film not about a mother’s grieving, but the past each one of us carries with us, and the impossibility of righting wrongs once committed. Yet, though what has been can never be altered, there is always a path forward, and a new life to be made.
Like any film of Almodóvar’s, this is a reflection upon identity, human sexuality, family, and regret. However, it must be added, it is also funny, sad, and something that stays with you long after it’s come to an end.
