Set in Shanghai, during British Rule of Hong Kong, Chow and Su are both renting rooms in the same apartment building. When they discover that their spouses are having an affair, they begin their own romance, attempting to act out how the affair might have begun.

Beautifully filmed, with red walls and smoke curling in dark spaces, this is a film about the failure to act, to grasp what one desires, though it is there to be taken.

We highly recommended this work for couples old and new, or for those who’ve succeeded in love, and those who’ve failed, too.
